Getting started
What actually happens in the free demo class?
Thirty minutes, one-on-one, on a video call. The teacher finds out what you want to play and what you can already do, gets you playing something on the instrument, and then tells you honestly which course and level to start at. There is no payment step and no card details. If you decide not to continue, that is the end of it.
How do I know which level to start at?
You do not have to work it out yourself. Every subject page lists what each level covers, but the demo class exists precisely so a teacher can place you rather than making you self-assess. Complete beginners always start at Level 1; students who already play are placed after the teacher has heard them.
Is there a minimum age?
It depends on the instrument, because small hands and long attention spans matter differently. The current minimums are Piano from age 6, Guitar from age 8. If your child is close to the minimum, book the demo anyway and the teacher will tell you honestly whether to start now or wait six months.
Is there an upper age limit, or is this only for children?
We teach adults regularly, including complete beginners. The curriculum is the same; the pace and the repertoire are not. Adult students usually want to understand why something works, so more of the theory and composition side comes forward earlier.
Do you teach absolute beginners who have never touched an instrument?
Yes. Level 1 in every subject assumes no prior experience and no ability to read music. You do not need to learn anything before your first class.
Can I learn two instruments at the same time?
You can, and some students do — piano plus guitar is the usual pair. They run as two separate courses with their own classes rather than being squeezed into one slot. Mention it on the demo call and the teacher will tell you whether doing both at once is realistic for your practice time.

Classes and scheduling
Are classes one-on-one or in a group?
Always one-on-one. One student, one teacher, live on a video call. We do not run group classes, and we do not sell pre-recorded video courses.
How long is a class and how often are they?
Classes are weekly by default, at a fixed slot you agree with your teacher. Most students take two classes a week; the class bundles are built around that rhythm. If you need a different frequency, ask on the demo call — the total number of classes stays the same, only the pace changes.
Which platform do the classes run on?
A standard video call, with the link sent to you before the class. You need a device with a camera, a stable connection, and a way to position the camera so the teacher can see your hands. Headphones help a lot; a second phone as an extra camera angle is useful for piano but not required.
Can I reschedule a class?
Yes, with reasonable notice. Slots are held for you each week, so a last-minute cancellation cannot always be re-used by someone else. Your teacher will agree the notice period with you at the start of the course, and the admissions counsellor confirms the policy in writing before you pay.
What happens if I miss a class without telling anyone?
The class is counted as taken. This is why the notice period matters — telling your teacher in advance costs you nothing, and silence costs you a class.
What if we go on holiday for a few weeks?
Tell us before you go and we pause the schedule rather than burning through classes. Every bundle has a validity window longer than its teaching period for exactly this reason, so a normal holiday does not put your remaining classes at risk.
Can I change my class timing later?
Yes. School terms, work shifts and time zones all move. Give your teacher as much notice as you can and we will find a new recurring slot; occasionally that means a different teacher if your old slot is no longer one they teach.
Do I get the same teacher every week?
Yes. Continuity is most of the value in one-on-one teaching — your teacher should remember what you struggled with last Tuesday. Teachers change only when a schedule genuinely cannot be made to work, and we tell you in advance when that happens.

Instruments and equipment
What do I need at home to start?
Something to practise on, and a device for the call. By subject: Piano — a keyboard or digital piano with touch-sensitive keys; Guitar — an acoustic guitar (nylon or steel string) in playable condition.
Do I need to buy an instrument before the demo class?
No. Come to the demo with whatever you have, including nothing. Part of what the teacher does in that half hour is tell you what to buy, at what budget, and what to avoid — which is a much better use of the class than guessing in a shop first.
Is a 61-key keyboard enough for piano, or do I need 88 weighted keys?
A touch-sensitive 61-key keyboard is enough to start and covers the whole of Level 1. Touch sensitivity matters more than key count early on, because dynamics are a technique you build from the beginning. Students heading towards exams or classical repertoire should plan to move to 88 weighted keys eventually, and your teacher will tell you when that point is close.
Which guitar should a beginner buy?
Any playable acoustic — nylon or steel string — with a comfortable action and strings that are not rusted. Size matters more than brand for a child: a 3/4 body is easier on small hands and arms. Bring what you already own to the demo and the teacher will tell you honestly whether it needs a setup, new strings, or replacing.
Do you teach electric guitar, drums, vocals or music production?
No. Tune Epicenter teaches piano and guitar only. We would rather do two instruments properly than list six and teach them thinly.

Exams and progress
Do you prepare students for graded music exams?
Yes. We run exam preparation alongside the regular curriculum for students who want it, and the Customized courses exist partly so a syllabus can be built around a specific grade or audition. Exams are optional — most of our students never take one and progress perfectly well without.
Do I have to take exams?
No. Graded exams are a useful external deadline for some students and a source of pressure for others. We will tell you honestly which one you look like, and the decision stays yours.
How will I know I am making progress?
Three ways. Each course has written outcomes you can read before you start, so the target is not a mystery. Your teacher keeps notes and tells you where you stand rather than saying “good job” and moving on. And most concretely, you will be able to play things in month three that you could not play in month one — recording yourself occasionally is the least flattering and most honest measure there is.
How much should I practise between classes?
Short and daily beats long and weekly. Fifteen to twenty focused minutes a day, five days a week, will outperform two hours on a Sunday every time. Your teacher sets specific practice tasks rather than telling you to go and practise, because a vague instruction is the main reason practice does not happen.
Do you give certificates?
We issue a course completion certificate when a level is finished. It is a record of what you covered with us, not an external qualification — if you need a recognised credential, that is what a graded exam is for, and we prepare students for those.
What happens when I finish a level?
Your teacher reviews where you are, tells you what the next level adds, and you decide whether to continue, switch to a Customized syllabus around a specific goal, or stop. Nobody is auto-enrolled into anything.

Payments and policies
How much do lessons cost?
Prices depend on the course, the level and your country, so the figure lives on the course page itself rather than being averaged into a single misleading number. Open the course you are interested in from the subjects menu and the pricing for your region is there. On the demo call, the teacher and the admissions counsellor confirm exactly which course you need and what it will cost you before anything is paid.
Do you charge per class or per course?
Per bundle of classes, with longer bundles priced lower per class. Each bundle also carries a validity period longer than its teaching period so that holidays and illness do not cost you classes. The counsellor walks you through the options that apply to your course on the demo call.
Do I pay for the demo class?
No. The demo is free, takes thirty minutes, and does not ask for card details.
What is your refund policy?
Refund and cancellation terms are confirmed in writing by the admissions counsellor before you pay, and they depend on the bundle you choose and how far into it you are. Please read them at that point and ask about anything you are unsure of — we would much rather answer awkward questions before you pay than after.
Which currencies and payment methods do you accept?
We teach and price for students in India, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Philippines, Brazil, Hungary, and course pages show prices in the local currency. The specific payment methods available to you depend on your country and are confirmed by the admissions counsellor on the demo call.
Can I pause my course?
Yes, within the validity window of your bundle and with notice. Tell us before the break rather than after it, and your remaining classes are held rather than spent.
How is my personal information handled?
We collect only what is needed to arrange lessons and reach you about them, and we do not sell it. Full detail, including how children's data and parental consent are handled, is in our privacy policy.
